Of course the patch affects characters on the eternal realm as well, and I’d say probably even a majority of players may not be doing season 1 here as they are still trying to level their mains or alts in eternal. That the new “Malignant Heart” gems which each give a legendary aspect-equivalent effect, may skew balance so much that the old values could not be left where they were, so these big pre-nerfs were needed. The main theory is that a lot of this has to do with the seasonal launch today. Sorcerers in particular have just been devastated by this patch, with their only viable build heavily nerfed, their survivability nerfed further when it was already the worst in the game, and no clear viable alternative builds emerging through buffs. The end result of all of this is that you are doing less damage and taking more damage no matter what build you’re running, even ones that didn’t get specifically targeted. Past that, barely any underperforming uniques got buffs, yet they had time to add one new uber-unique that no one will ever get. The end result of all of this is dungeons you were clearing just fine before are either more of a slog or at times, just impossible, and you must walk back a level or five or ten. Nightmare Dungeons are still full of horrible affixes that reduce your damage or increase your damage taken dramatically on top of these new changes. It’s also about what hasn’t been changed. (This also launched with a bug that reduced cinder gain by about 70%, but that has already been hotfixed).
